En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, la traducci\u00f3n autom\u00e1tica (TA) y la inteligencia artificial (IA) han revolucionado el sector de la traducci\u00f3n. Desde Google Translate hace 20 a\u00f1os hasta los modelos actuales de traducci\u00f3n autom\u00e1tica neuronal (NMT por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) como DeepL, la IA y las herramientas autom\u00e1ticas han hecho que la traducci\u00f3n sea m\u00e1s r\u00e1pida y accesible, adem\u00e1s de eliminar los errores humanos. Sin embargo, el hecho de que no haya errores humanos<\/em> no significa que no haya errores, solo que no haya ninguno de los que suelen cometer las personas.<\/p>\n

A pesar de las ventajas de la IA, hay muchas razones para ser extremadamente cuidadoso a la hora de utilizarlas. Ahora, yono escribo este post para criticar la IA. Como muchas otras profesiones, traductores e int\u00e9rptetes en todas partes est\u00e1n intentando sacar provecho de la tecnolog\u00eda, pero hay inconvenientes y problemas que hay que tener en cuenta. Vamos a ver las ventajas y desventajas principales.<\/span><\/p>\n

El auge de la traducci\u00f3n autom\u00e1tica y la IA en la traducci\u00f3n<\/strong><\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

Las herramientas de IA utilizan algoritmos de aprendizaje para procesar y traducir textos con una rapidez y eficacia sin precedentes. A diferencia de los antiguos m\u00e9todos de traducci\u00f3n autom\u00e1tica, que utilizan reglas ling\u00fc\u00edsticas, la IA analiza grandes cantidades de datos multiling\u00fces para predecir la mejor traducci\u00f3n de un texto o documento. Esto significa que comparada con la TA, es capaz de producir traducciones m\u00e1s naturales que se ajustan mejor al contexto.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Estas herramientas se est\u00e1n generalizando r\u00e1pidamente, y casi todas las empresas, grandes corporaciones y PYMEs las utilizan, ya sea para traducir sus sitios web y contenidos o para ofrecer atenci\u00f3n al cliente. La sanidad, los servicios jur\u00eddicos, la pol\u00edtica... no hay casi ning\u00fan sector que la IA no haya tocado ya.<\/p>\n

\u00bfUn punto de inflexi\u00f3n para bien?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      1. Rapidez y eficacia<\/strong> \u2014 La IA y la TA pueden procesar vol\u00famenes mucho mayores mucho m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido que un traductor humano. De hecho, pueden producir resultados casi instant\u00e1neamente aunque el documento contenga cientos de p\u00e1ginas. Obviamente, esto es una gran ventaja cuando tienes que cumplir un plazo muy adjustado.<\/li>\n
      2. Precio<\/strong> \u2014 La traducci\u00f3n autom\u00e1tica suele ser m\u00e1s barata que un traductor humano, lo que la hace mucho m\u00e1s asequible para las peque\u00f1as empresas con presupuestos limitados.<\/li>\n

Simulan<\/em> la comprensi\u00f3n. Es una ilusi\u00f3n. La IA utiliza la probabilidad y enormes cantidades de datos para sacar conclusiones, no recurre a la experiencia, el conocimiento o la comprensi\u00f3n del mundo real. Como resultado, la traducci\u00f3n autom\u00e1tica puede tener problemas para procesar el contexto cultural, los refranes o el humor. Esto puede significar que las traducciones, aunque precisas, pueden parecer poco naturales a los hablantes nativos.<\/li>\n

A pesar de los avances de la tecnolog\u00eda, a\u00fan queda mucho para que la IA sea lo suficientemente fiable como para producir traducciones precisas, naturales y adecuadas sin supervisi\u00f3n humana. Esto es especialmente el caso para los documentos que requieren un amplio conocimiento cultural o espec\u00edfico de una materia<\/a><\/span>.
